Overview

We teamed up with the largest union for smallholder farmers in Zimbabwe to transform the country's agricultural sector. Currently piloting with cotton farmers this project aims to expands into other crops.

Process

Zimbabwean smallholder farmers have suffered year by year under declining yields and droughts. The biochar program offers them to use their farm residues and turn them into value, before they have to burn them due to local regulations.

Results

Already after one season farmers in the program have seen the positive results of biochar fertilizer and happily harvested healthier crops with higher yields.
